Winter Sunset, Skunk Harbor on Lake Tahoe

 We had intended to go elsewhere, but the timing worked out to leave us only a couple of hours to squeeze in a hike. Several of the hikes involving beaches nearby had their parking closed off thanks to heavy snow, so we went back to Skunk Harbor - and we're glad we did.

The order of the pictures got mixed up, but the photo below is actually the start of the trail. Its the steepest part. After the beginning section, it's not too bad. Downhill to the lake and uphill back home. 
























A cool woodpecker we saw in a tree. His face is white with black eyes. Got it in a video but not a picture. Discovered he's a white-headed woodpecker, though the other pictures I found online all had a red spot on top of their heads and this guy was just black and white.

We originally stopped at Zephyr Cove but the snow was too deep without snowshoes or skis.
