Chickadee Ridge - Nevada (with Seth and Lilli)

Ron and Seth are both sporting a missing tooth at the moment. Sharing a toothless moment. 

 

Boater's Beach and Secret Cove - Nevada

 

There were many interesting trees on this hike. A couple like this one, fire damaged and still living, and big enough to take shelter inside.

This was an incredibly striking redwood - nearly fully dead, craggy and bare, and looked like an evil lair hidden among all of the live, evergreen pines.

Remnants of root systems. These are always beautifully interesting.

Lora loves sugar pine cones. This was the first time we were able to identify a sugar pine tree for certain. Once in a while we randomly come across a Sugar Pine Cone in some stage of decay but haven't seen an actual tree with multiple cones on the ground until this hike.  

Somebody was having fun. :)

See the white line just over the water? At certain times of the day, when the lighting is just right, it appears. We've seen it happen a few times now. It's a bright white line of reflected light.
