The Lower Thomas Creek trail begins like many other trails in the city limits - it's desert plants types, but the creek brings in beautiful cottonwoods and aspens that grow thickly near the water.
Thicket on the water where the birds bathe and play. So many types of birds and birdsongs. Also a nice spot for pictures with animal friends.
The last portion of the trail is the site of a wildfire late summer of 2020. It looks like a land of desolation, but there are already hints of grasses coming back. The aspens that survived have put out new, fresh suckers to grow from. In many years it will come back, and the burned portions will serve to fertilize the new growth.
Aspen bark turns from white to a beautiful deep copper color when burned.
