Olympic Valley to Shirley Canyon

 

Olympic Valley is the renamed Squaw Valley area, located between Truckee and Tahoe City on Highway 89. It's a beautiful area, with the valley mostly being high mountain meadow between large peaks. The trail we chose was a short one (1.5 miles) that meets the Shirley Canyon trailhead. Despite the short length, there were many small waterfalls (and one large one), and it had some of the prettiest resting areas we've seen all summer. Many feet were soaked in mountain streams. :) The animal friends also had a big photo day.
