Fortune favored us on the way to Mammoth Lakes. We arrived a little later in the day, near 6pm, and hadn't really meant to take the road into Yosemite, but...it was open (and publicly proclaimed as closed still for the snow). Anyway, the east gate is 12 miles from Lee Vining, and surely we'd turn around after getting close, right? Not so much. :) We ended up driving a couple of miles past the main gate (and there was no ranger to turn us away). While none of this was hiking, it sure was beautiful to see.
One of the many, many lakes in the high mountains. Each one seems more lovely than the last.
