Galena Falls Trail toward Tamarack Peak (Nevada)

 




















The wind shapes the snow. Sometimes into unexpected sculptures, like shark fins or waves.

Don't know what this plant is yet, but it was pretty.


There was less mud than we thought there might be. In places where the snow was melted, the ground was very soft like walking in the sand almost, not sticky like mud. A byproduct of many rocks with very little actual dirt.

The snow was still very deep in most places (2-4 feet), but fairly well packed. I like when we find the tops of the signposts buried in the snow. 




















I like these pinecones. They don't have any pokey spikes. It's like they have wooden flower petals. I've only found them when we are near the top of a mountain so far.
